Anthropic drops plan to acquire AI startup Decart, Bloomberg reports
According to a Bloomberg News report on Tuesday, Anthropic has opted not to proceed with its planned acquisition of the artificial intelligence startup Decart AI, as stated by individuals with knowledge of the matter.
The maker of the Claude chatbot had conducted due diligence on Decart and was exploring a deal, but ultimately chose to back away from the potential transaction, the report indicated.
The report added that the two companies may still explore alternative avenues for collaboration in the future.
As Bloomberg reported last month, the companies had been in discussions over a transaction valued at roughly $6 billion, although no definitive agreement had been reached at that time.
Decart is a developer of software aimed at enhancing chip efficiency and lowering the costs associated with training and running AI models.
Anthropic has been increasing its investment in computing capacity as it advances product development and gets ready for a potential initial public offering.
