Boeing 767 cargo plane with Amazon branding crashes near Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767-300 freighter bearing Amazon’s logo crashed in the vicinity of Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon after overrunning the runway while attempting to land.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft was inbound from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and overran the landing strip at about 2:00 p.m. ET.
According to NBC News, footage captured at the scene Sunday showed smoke billowing from the site of the incident, which appeared to be located on a roadway outside the airport.
The FAA identified the aircraft as operating under 21 Air. On its website, 21 Air counts Prime Air—an Amazon subsidiary—among its customers.
Confirming to NBC News, an airport spokesperson said every runway at Miami International Airport had been shut down in the wake of the crash.
