Bombardier Presses Ahead on U.S. Hiring Despite Trump's Ban Threat
On Sept. 9, Bombardier told Reuters that it is still actively recruiting American workers to fill 500 jobs open in the United States, a hiring push that continues even as President Donald Trump has threatened to ban the company's planes from the U.S. market.
Several of the positions are connected to a new service center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, that is scheduled to start operations in mid-November. Bombardier remains able to deliver aircraft to U.S. customers despite Trump's threat, according to industry sources, offering another indication that the aerospace sector has been exempt from the larger U.S. trade war.
The latest round of retaliatory measures that the United States imposed on Canada on Tuesday did not impact the aerospace sector.
