China’s car exports roar in August while domestic sales extend declines
Beijing, Sept. 8 (Reuters) — Chinese car exports continued at a brisk pace in August, as automakers led by BYD shipped a record number of vehicles abroad, in stark contrast to the weak home market, where sales have now declined for 11 consecutive months.
Data from the China Passenger Car Association, released on Tuesday, showed passenger vehicle exports jumping 77.5% year-over-year to 894,000 units in August — a slight moderation from the 88.2% growth recorded the previous month.
Domestic sales fell 23.7% to 1.55 million vehicles in August, compared with a 21.1% drop in July.
