Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.15%

Greek equities closed higher on Tuesday, propelled by gains across the construction, travel and technology sectors.

At the closing bell in Athens, the Athens General Composite advanced 0.15% to reach a new five-year high.

The session's standout performers on the Athens General Composite included Qualco Group SA (AT:QLCOr), which climbed 4.43% or 0.27 points to close at 6.36. Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) added 2.93% or 1.85 points to settle at 65.00, while HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT:HEPr) rose 2.58% or 0.42 points to finish late trade at 16.68.

Among the session's weakest performers, Aegean Airlines (AT:AGNr) slipped 2.03% or 0.25 points to end at 12.05. Alter Ego Media SA (AT:AEMr) fell 1.87% or 0.12 points to 6.30, and Kri-Kri Milk (AT:KRIr) dropped 1.60% or 0.50 points to close at 30.70.

On the Athens Stock Exchange, declining issues outnumbered advancing ones by 60 to 50, while 19 stocks ended the day unchanged.

Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) reached an all-time high, advancing 2.93% or 1.85 points to 65.00. HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT:HEPr) likewise touched a five-year peak, rising 2.58% or 0.42 points to 16.68.

December-dated gold futures declined 0.86% or $38.34 to $4,438.26 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, October crude oil futures gained 1.51% or $1.38 to $92.86 per barrel, while November Brent crude rose 0.93% or $0.90 to trade at $97.90 per barrel.

EUR/USD was effectively unchanged at 1.16, reflecting a 0.05% daily move, while EUR/GBP was also effectively flat at 0.86 after a 0.06% daily change.

The U.S. Dollar Index Futures declined 0.37% to 98.79.
