Italian Equities Close Higher as Investing.com Italy 40 Advances 0.27%
Italian stocks closed on a positive note on Monday, driven by robust gains in the Travel & Leisure, Technology and Industrials sectors, as reported by Investing.com.
At the closing bell in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 index advanced 0.27%.
Lottomatica Group SpA (BIT:LTMC) was the standout performer on the Investing.com Italy 40, surging 7.71% or 1.87 points to finish at 26.14. STMicroelectronics (BIT:STMMI) also delivered a strong showing, adding 4.01% or 1.80 points to close at 46.61, while Avio SpA (BIT:AVI) rounded out the leaders with a 2.95% gain or 0.83 points to reach 29.00 in late trading.
On the downside, Telecom Italia (BIT:TLIT) led the decliners, falling 3.56% or 0.28 points to 7.47 at the close. Poste Italiane SpA (BIT:PST) retreated 2.42% or 0.65 points, ending the session at 26.25, and Snam SpA (BIT:SRG) slipped 2.16% or 0.12 points to 5.54.
Across the Milan Stock Exchange, falling shares outnumbered advancing ones by a count of 314 to 302, while 53 stocks finished the day unchanged.
In commodities, crude oil for October delivery climbed 1.79%, or $1.64, to settle at $93.12 per barrel. Brent oil for November delivery advanced 1.45%, or $1.40, to hit $97.68 a barrel, while gold futures for December declined 0.38%, or $17.00, to trade at $4,459.60 per troy ounce.
EUR/USD was essentially flat, quoted at 1.16 with a marginal 0.11% movement, while EUR/GBP was also largely unchanged at 0.86 after a 0.06% shift.
The US Dollar Index Futures slipped 0.28% to 98.88.
