Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.52%
Mexican equities ended Tuesday's trading session on a positive note, buoyed by gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples sectors.
At the closing bell, the benchmark S&P/BMV IPC index had advanced 0.52%.
The session's standout performers on the S&P/BMV IPC included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which climbed 8.27% or 0.64 points to finish at 8.38. Grupo Mexico S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) added 3.05% or 6.80 points, ending at 229.56, while Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) rose 2.26% or 0.45 points to 20.34 in late trading.
The laggards of the day were Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB), which slipped 3.68% or 8.02 points to trade at 209.98 at the close; Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB), which declined 3.10% or 0.41 points to end at 12.81; and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (BMV:ASURB), which fell 2.75% or 12.22 points to 432.24.
On the Mexico Stock Exchange, declining issues outpaced advancing ones by 139 to 113, while 10 stocks finished unchanged.
Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) shares dropped to a 52-week low, losing 3.10% or 0.41 points to trade at 12.81.
Gold futures for December delivery declined 1.71% or 76.60 to $4,400.00 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, crude oil for October delivery increased 3.03% or 2.77 to hit $94.25 per barrel, while the November Brent contract edged up 0.03% or 0.03 to trade at $99.35 per barrel.
The USD/MXN exchange rate was nearly flat, easing 0.02% to 16.92, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 19.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures dipped 0.34% to 98.82.
