Nvidia’s Huang says ‘AGI has arrived’ after OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra launch
Investing.com — Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) chief executive Jensen Huang has declared that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is now a reality, pointing to OpenAI’s newly introduced GPT-6 Astra model as a milestone in the accelerating evolution of AI systems.
“AGI has arrived,” Huang wrote in a post on X on Sunday, while congratulating OpenAI on Astra’s debut.
OpenAI has characterized the model as its most intelligent and well-aligned creation to date, claiming top-tier performance across computer use, software engineering, cybersecurity, scientific reasoning, and professional work.
Huang noted that Astra was trained using more than 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72 systems, highlighting the enormous computational resources now required to advance frontier AI models.
“From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years,” Huang wrote, adding that an additional 400,000 Nvidia GPUs were being brought online.
OpenAI President Greg Brockman has similarly suggested that the model could signal the start of the AGI era, even though the term itself still lacks a universally agreed-upon definition.
OpenAI reported that Astra achieved a 98% score on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3, and a perfect 100% on ExploitBench.
