Polish shares closed higher on Monday, lifted by advances in the Energy, Media and Basic Materials sectors, according to Investing.com data.

At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 benchmark rose 0.47%, reaching a fresh all-time high.

Among the session's top performers on the WIG30, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) climbed 4.94% or 0.62 points to close at 13.17. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) advanced 4.80% or 0.41 points to finish at 9.04, while MODIVO SA (WA:MDVP) gained 3.91% or 3.44 points to trade at 91.32 in late trade.

The largest decliners of the session included X Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski SA (WA:XTB), which fell 1.65% or 2.60 points to 155.14 at the close. Benefit Systems SA (WA:BFT) slipped 1.23% or 65.00 points to end at 5,210.00, and Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) was down 0.81% or 1.90 points to 233.70.

Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 263 to 254, with 128 stocks ending the day unchanged.

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) shares reached five-year highs, gaining 4.94% or 0.62 to close at 13.17.

In commodities markets, crude oil for October delivery rose 1.89% or 1.73 to $93.21 per barrel. Brent oil for November delivery gained 1.72% or 1.66 to $97.94 per barrel, while December gold futures fell 0.40% or 17.71 to $4,458.89 per troy ounce.

In currency trading, EUR/PLN edged up 0.13% to 4.31, while USD/PLN was virtually unchanged, rising 0.01% to 3.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures slipped 0.29% to 98.86.
