Runway AI Hits $200 Million in Revenue as Video Tool Demand Surges
By September, Runway AI Inc. had reached $200 million in annual recurring revenue, fueled by growing corporate adoption of its image- and video-generating software for producing marketing materials and advertisements.
Co-founder and co-CEO Anastasis Germanidis told Bloomberg that the startup's annual recurring revenue has doubled over the last five months. It has added new clients including Italian fashion label Dolce & Gabbana and cybersecurity provider Palo Alto Networks Inc.
Runway anticipates exceeding $350 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of the year, according to Bloomberg, which cited a person familiar with the matter. Germanidis indicated that most of the revenue derives from its AI models that generate video.
The company is shifting its focus toward world models—AI systems trained to simulate the physical world—which Runway believes can improve robot capabilities. Its newly launched Solaris model targets real-time simulation of computer interfaces, supporting website development and training software-navigating agents.
This past summer, Runway acquired Paris-based AI research startup Kinetix to bolster its robotics software initiatives. Seven Kinetix employees, who worked on AI models simulating three-dimensional human motion, have joined Runway. Germanidis declined to reveal the acquisition price.
