Russian Equities Advance at Close; MOEX Russia Index Adds 0.46%
Russian equities advanced after Tuesday's close, with gains in the oil & gas, manufacturing and telecoms sectors driving the broader market higher.
At the close of trading in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index rose by 0.46%.
Leading the gainers on the MOEX Russia Index were TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin (MCX:TATN), which rose 3.83% or 22.70 points to close at 614.70; Surgutneftegas PJSC (MCX:SNGS), which added 3.34% or 0.53 points to end at 16.41; and TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which advanced 3.29% or 18.80 points to 591.00 in late trade.
The worst performers on the session included Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO (MCX:MAGN), which fell 2.75% or 0.65 points to trade at 23.03 at the close; ROSSETI PJSC (MCX:FEES), which declined 2.04% or 0.00 points to end at 0.05; and Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT), which dropped 2.01% or 34.00 points to 1,655.00.
On the Moscow Stock Exchange, decliners outpaced advancers by a count of 136 to 107, while 12 issues ended unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index (RVI), a measure of implied volatility on MOEX Russia Index options, gained 0.65% to settle at 37.34.
December-delivery gold futures slipped 1.71% or $76.60 to $4,400.00 per troy ounce. In other commodity markets, October crude oil gained 3.03% or $2.77 to $94.25 a barrel, while November Brent crude rose 0.01% or $0.01 to $99.33 a barrel.
USD/RUB stayed flat at 85.85 (0.00%), while EUR/RUB was unchanged at 99.79 (0.00%).
The U.S. Dollar Index futures declined 0.34% to 98.82.
