Russian Shares End Lower; MOEX Russia Index Flat at Three-Month High
Russian stocks finished lower after the close on Saturday, with sector moves leading shares.
At the Moscow close, the MOEX Russia Index was unchanged, moving 0.00% to reach a new three-month high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT), up 1.38%, or 22.50 points, closing at 1,657.50. United Company Rusal IPJSC (MCX:RUAL) added 1.36%, or 0.33 points, to end at 24.54, while TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p) rose 0.89%, or 5.70 points, to 649.10 in late trade.
The worst performers were NOVATEK PJSC (MCX:NVTK), down 2.14%, or 23.70 points, at 1,084.30 at the close. T Tekhnologii MKPAO (MCX:T) declined 1.33%, or 3.60 points, to 268.08, and Novolipetsk Steel (MCX:NLMK) fell 1.12%, or 0.86 points, to 76.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 104, with 22 ending unchanged.
Shares in TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p) rose to 52-week highs, gaining 0.89%, or 5.70, to 649.10.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was unchanged at 0.00%, at 29.97.
Gold futures for December delivery rose 1.52%, or 63.30, to $4,220.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in November gained 0.19%, or 0.17, to hit $91.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.29%, or 0.30, to trade at $104.42 a barrel.
USD/RUB gained 0.99% to 85.87, while EUR/RUB rose 0.03% to 95.33.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 102.03.
