Taiwan Stocks Edge Higher at Close; Taiwan Weighted Adds 0.06%

Taiwanese equities ended Wednesday's session on a positive note, supported by strength in the oil, gas and electricity, optoelectronic, and transportation sectors.

The Taiwan Weighted index concluded the trading day with a gain of 0.06%.

Leading the gainers on the Taiwan Weighted were Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460), which climbed 9.96% or 2.80 points to finish at 30.90, Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which advanced 9.96% or 5.50 points to close at 60.70, and Song Chuan Precision Co Ltd (TW:7788), which rose 9.95% or 29.00 points to 320.50 in late trade.

The session's worst performers included PELL BIO MED TECHNOLOGY CO LTD (TW:6949), which fell 9.11% or 5.50 points to 54.90 at the close, Sixxon Tech Co Ltd (TW:4569), which dropped 7.00% or 12.00 points to end at 159.50, and Transcene Corp (TW:6969), which declined 6.63% or 2.45 points to 34.50.

On the Taiwan Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by a count of 619 to 385, with 121 issues ending unchanged.

Elsewhere in commodities, crude oil for October delivery advanced 0.87%, or 0.81, to $93.84 per barrel. Brent oil for November delivery rose 0.98%, or 0.96, to $98.88 per barrel, while December gold futures gained 0.07%, or 3.01, to $4,442.01 per troy ounce.

The USD/TWD exchange rate slipped 0.20% to 31.46, while TWD/CNY was unchanged at 0.19% to 0.21.

The U.S. Dollar Index Futures traded down 0.07% at 98.71.
