On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump stepped onto the Qatar-donated Air Force One for his trip to Texas, after stating that an emergency slide that had expanded on one side of the plane was undergoing inspection.

The slide had apparently popped out just before Trump was scheduled to board for the journey to Dallas, where he was to headline the first-ever Republican midterm convention.

After arriving, Trump stayed aboard the Marine One helicopter for roughly 20 minutes before walking to the tarmac and addressing reporters.

When a journalist asked if he was confident the plane was safe to fly, Trump replied: "Yes, I am, otherwise I wouldn't get on it."

A few minutes later, the emergency slide was removed from the aircraft.

Trump has been using the jumbo jet since July 1, following his acceptance of the plane as a gift the previous year. An accelerated refurbishment of the Boeing 747 took place before Trump began flying on it.
