Turkey stocks higher at close of trade; BIST 100 up 0.70%
Turkish equities ended Wednesday's session on a positive note, with strength in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Real Estate Investments, and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors providing the main upward momentum.
At the closing bell in Istanbul, the BIST 100 index had gained 0.70%.
The session's top performers on the BIST 100 included Emlak Konut Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:EKGYO), which surged 9.98% or 2.04 points to finish at 22.48. Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS (IS:KTLEV) advanced 9.95% or 3.44 points to close at 38.02, while Europower Enerji ve Otomasyon Teknolojileri Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:EUPWR) rose 7.31% or 5.15 points to trade at 75.60 near the end of the session.
On the downside, Odine Solutions Teknoloji Ticaret ve Sanayi AS (IS:ODINE) was the worst performer, dropping 9.99% or 107.00 points to close at 964.00. Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik Dis Ticaret AS (IS:PASEU) fell 9.97% or 12.80 points to end at 115.60, and Sekerbank TAS (IS:SKBNK) declined 5.90% or 0.40 points to settle at 6.38.
Broad market sentiment was negative, with falling stocks outnumbering advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 315 to 294, while 36 issues closed unchanged.
In commodity markets, gold futures for December delivery rose 0.16% or $7.20 to $4,446.20 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for October delivery gained 3.71% or $3.45 to hit $96.48 per barrel, and the November Brent contract increased 3.50% or $3.43 to trade at $101.35 per barrel.
In currency trading, USD/TRY edged up 0.07% to 48.48, while EUR/TRY rose 0.09% to 56.42.
The U.S. Dollar Index Futures inched up 0.01% to 98.79.
