U.K. stocks finished lower on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Software & Computer Services and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares down.

At the London close, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.11%.

Among the top performers of the session, B&M European Value Retail PLC (LON:BMEB) advanced 3.26% or 7.40 points to trade at 234.40 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.20% or 3.30 points to end at 153.10, and Standard Life PLC (LON:SDLF) rose 2.04% or 19.00 points to 951.50 in late trading.

The worst performers included Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which fell 4.11% or 11.80 points to trade at 275.00 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) slid 2.99% or 15.80 points to end at 512.00, and HALEON PLC (LON:HLN) declined 2.69% or 9.50 points to 343.30.

On the London Stock Exchange, declining issues outpaced advancers by 881 to 685, with 546 shares ending the session flat.

Standard Life PLC (LON:SDLF) shares reached an all-time high during the session, rising 2.04% or 19.00 points to close at 951.50.

Gold futures for December delivery lost 0.37% or $16.44 to trade at $4,460.16 a troy ounce. In other commodities, October crude oil gained 1.81% or $1.66 to hit $93.14 a barrel, while November Brent contract increased 1.47% or $1.42 to $97.70 a barrel.

GBP/USD settled at 1.35, a change of 0.18% on the day, while EUR/GBP settled at 0.86, a change of 0.06%.

The US Dollar Index Futures declined 0.28% to 98.87.
