US FCC proposes to open more wireless spectrum for space-based wireless service
Reporting from Washington on September 8, Reuters noted that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced Tuesday it is moving forward with plans to open more wireless spectrum for use by space-based broadband services.
According to the FCC, a planned order, set for a vote on September 30, would unlock thousands of megahertz of spectrum to enhance capacity for high-speed satellite broadband services spanning residential connections, in-flight and maritime connectivity, and traffic-routing operations within satellite ground networks.
